Amanda Bio

Amanda Diva had given up on music.

America's obsession with image over artistry and money over musicality had taken the fun out of something she loved. But a trip to Europe showed her that there is still a world that appreciates true artistry.  Renewed, she came back to the states, got back on the mic, found her way back to soul.

Straight to the point lyrics.  A one of a kind voice.  Witty and sharp.  Amanda Seales's (formerly known as Amanda Diva) music is genuine and raw defying genre, and expectations of what a popular female artist is “supposed” to be.  A true performer the stage is her home and she welcomes her audience into her world with open arms.  The real deal and her peers have come to embrace her as she does her audience.  Recently featured on Q-tip’s “ManWoman Boogie” on his Grammy nominated album “The Renaissance,” she also replaced Natalie Stewart in the Grammy award winning R&B group, Floetry in ‘07, and has worked with notable artisans Questlove, James Poyser, Curren$y, Green Lantern, Ski Beatz, The Cool Kids, and more.

But music wasn’t always the goal.  Starting off as a young actress on Nickelodeon sitcom, “My Brother and Me” Amanda is no stranger to the madness that is showbiz.  Moving to New York in 1999 she was exposed to the hip-hop culture in a completely new way than that of her hometown Orlando, FL and she was hooked.  Soon she was writing and performing on the spoken word poetry scene before being chosen to appear on Russell Simmon’s Def Poetry Jam (’02 & ’05). While performing at a political fundraiser she was discovered by a Program Director at Sirius Satellite Radio and was quickly hired as a radio personality right out of college where she continued to thrive from ’03-’08 with her morning show “Breakfast at Diva’s.”  During that time she also obtained a Master’s in African American studies from the prestigious Columbia University and served as the face of hip-hop on MTV2 interviewing close to every relevant hip-hop/R&B artist of the last 10 yrs including Jay-Z, Nas, Mariah Carey, Pharell, and even acting heavyweights like Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox. Her work on the small screen continues to grow as currently she serves as comedy commentator and music expert on VH1, the host of "Speaking Of..." on Music Choice, writer & creator of "The Spark" on AOLBlackVoices.com, and is writing/performing in/co-producing a one-woman show called Death of the Diva that explores today's lack of powerful women as icons in entertainment.

All of that experience, bull sh**, etcetera has come to influence Amanda Diva the recording artist and is at the crux of what sets her a part from everyone else. Her latest release, "Madame Monochrome" shows an artist that has come in to her own and claimed her lane.  The first single, "Manchild" produced by legendary Ski Beatz has received critical acclaim and worldwide support!  Combining soul and hip hop fluidly sustained melodies and poignant lyrics on life and love she speaks universally to human nature.

After a two-year hiatus from music, on April 27th Amanda Diva is set to release the "Madame Monochrome" FreEp on http://www.AmandaDiva.com.   Somehow between being a music expert and comedian for VH1, DJaying, preparing for her next art exhibit, hosting "Speaking Of..." on Music Choice, developing a TV show based on her comedy produced by Nick Cannon, and speaking at colleges across the nation, Deev found time to get in the studio work and with Ski Beatz, James Poyser, Droop E, Cook Classics and more to make some bottom line, dopeness.  Though she was busy with other projects, it was her frustration with America's obsession with image over artistry and money over musicality that made her decide to put music to the side.  But a recent trip to Europe to perform in Berlin and Paris showed her that there is still a world that appreciates true artistry!  Renewed, she came back to the states, got back on the mic, and found her way to “Madame Monochrome”.

Staying true to form, she fluidly melds melody with flow and soul with the boom bap musically giving audiences an authentic look in to her mind and heart.  However, the title is exactly what she is not.  As she makes clear in the intro, a multifaceted artist she has refused to let the industry box her in to being a "mono" anything.  With "MM" she shows that practice does make prowess, each record displaying more evidence of an artist who has finally found her musical voice.  The first single/video, "Manchild" (produced by Ski Beatz} has garnered worldwide support and praise even securing a position as an Itunes featured video of the month in December, all of this with no label and no management. A fully independent artist now nestled comfortably in her own brand of hip hop soul, Amanda Diva, the "Renaissance girl next door" still has more melodies to make.
